Kit: MS480R; BabyBoomer speaker; MX671R function decoder for dummy end
Just a quick revisit of Bachmann's 108 DMU this time with MS sound, but a simple approach.
Dummy end first... One screw under the cab to remove, then the body unclips and lifts off.
Remove the 8-pin blanking plug, and plug in the MX671R function decoder. There is a small channel under the moulding where we
can run the harness and hide the decoder on the other side of that wall, so all is nice and neat.
For the motor card... again a single screw under the cab is removed, then the body unclips.
The 8pin socket is at the rear, and a convenient (though a little small) tray is provided on top of the motor housing. We'll be
putting the MS480R decoder in there.
The speaker we opt for is a Rail Exclusive Baby Boomer (26x20x8mm). We have to take off the final row of seats, but this simple
mod means that the speaker fits flush (vertically) against the motor block.
The decoder is fixed into the tray.
We use the sample 1000uF capacitor for stay-alive (not much, but easily enough to add). Wrap in kapton tape, and this
conveniently slots down above the 8-pin socket.
