The Hornby OO Black 5, with DCC sound using a Zimo MX648, Seuthe smoke generator, cab light and firebox glow.
Without going into too much detail, here we have the Zimo MX648 sound decoder and CT sugar-cube speaker (NB use SugarCube9
instead) already installed into our Black 5. In order to get to this point, we have removed the existing DCC socket, ground
down the screw mounts, and therefore made room for the speaker.
A hole has been formed directly under the chimney, in order to give us access for installing a Seuthe smoke generator (#22). We
needed enough room not only to slide the Seuthe into place, but also to carefully dribble the 2-part epoxy into position. We've
then added a firebox glow LED (orange SMD), and a cab light (white SMD). Each LED must have its own resistor, before being
joined into the decoder's common positive wire (blue).
Quite straight-forward, and a relatively large amount of space for this equipment.
