Kit: MX649N; SugarCube7; MX671N function decoder for dummy
Should be a fairly straight-forward install for DCC sound into this 150, which provides a 6pin DCC socket, and an area in the
seating for a cube speaker...
The dummy coach gets a Zimo MX671N function decoder for control of the lights in that car.
Next we consider the motor car...
A SugarCube7 speaker will comfortably fit in the intended space - we have to temporarily unscrew the PCB to slide the speaker
in, then take care to realign the motor contacts when screwing it back down.
Neatly run the wires along the PCB underside with double-sided tape to reduce their visibility through the windows.
Unfortunately, the MX649N is just a little too long to sit flat when plugged into the 6pin socket... this prevents the body
from going back on flush. Once the Zimo MS range arrive, we'll be able to use an MS490N decoder instead which will fit in this
model with no modification at all.
We therefore carefully grind a small chunk off the inside corner of the chassis block to make enough space.
Perfect, and not too much work!
The finished 2-car set...
