Kit: MS440D; SugarCube24X15X08 speaker; 17000uF SuperCap; 2x YouChoos bi-colour lamps
A very similar approach to the MX, but this time with the MS440D sound decoder, which can have a SuperCap connected directly
without any extra components between.
For our lamps, we need 4 outputs from the decoder. FA1 is used by the model's firebox light, so we use F0Fwd (front white),
F0Rev (rear white), FA2 (front red) and FA3 (rear red).
Our bi-colour lamps are installed, and the wires routed through to the decoder bay.
A small amount of filing is required in order to get the dual SugarCube speaker tucked neatly under the control console. The
model already has wires routed to here for the speaker, so connection is easy.
Any visible parts of the speaker are painted black with acrylic paint, though it is all at the very back of the cab anyway, so
not really visible once the body goes on.
Figures are added.
Just need to join all the lighting wires up now. Each lamp has its' own protective resistor from common positive (blue wire in
photo).
The SuperCap is connected to the MS440's stay-alive wires, covered in Kapton and secured under the lamp right on the back wall.
The wires from that lamp interfere with the bunker lid a little, so we just carve a little out of the underside of the plastic
to make it fit flush.
Some coal is added to improve the realism, and we're all done!
