Heljan O gauge Class 60 Diesel with MS sound

Kit: MS990K; Visaton K50WP 50mm speaker; RE BoomBox

Going for really big sound in this Class 60, we use the latest MS990K large scale screw terminal sound decoder, with a massive 50mm Visaton speaker in the fuel tank, and to compliment it, a Rail Exclusive BoomBox speaker inside the body.

The big Visaton speaker does not fit straight-off, but a bit of measuring suggests some minor removal of plastic on the fuel tank edges will allow it to fit.

Not too much to remove, and it is a perfect fit!

Some careful use of BlackTack is deployed to keep the speaker secure, to avoid movement and vibration and the wires are fed up through the chassis toward where the decoder will be.

The MS990K replaces the original factory board, and we methodically work at transferring the wires to the appropriate terminals of the decoder. Some wires need to be combined and extended to reach.

A Rail Exclusives BoomBox 40x20x10mm 2W speaker is added to give top-end frequencies (in comparison to the Visaton speaker), and the balance is excellent.
