Neat and quirky, the Heljan Baldwin certainly looks the part...
To get inside, remove screws from both bogies, taking care of the rear one especially as it will remain joined by its' pickup
wires.
The front of the boiler comes off, after carefully unplugging the stays and pipework. This reveals a 2-prong electrical
contact for the front lamp.
A 6pin DCC socket is tucked down in the left side tank. Not much space here. Slide the whole PCB up and free.
We try an MX617N first, but even with the pins trimmed a little, the decoder is still a bit too long to slot back in.
Therefore will opt for the tiny MX616N instead, which fits in a treat.
DCC sound would only be possible in the model with a little surgery and using the cab area for a decoder and speaker - would be
very tight.
