Kit: MS580'G' with 2x mini GoldCaps for stay-alive; SugarCube9
Revisiting one of Bachmann's first Next18 OO models here, we fit the newer Zimo MS580 Next18 sound decoder, but the 'G'
version, which has no onboard stay-alive, instead sporting wires for connection of a pair of mini GoldCaps, which are very
effective indeed.
The SugarCube9 speaker drops into the provided space near to the chimney, and we add wires fed back to the PCB in the bunker.
The mini GoldCaps are connected in series, then connected the wires from the decoder (stripey blue for +VE and stripey black
for Ground).
For an added feature, we put in a nano firebox glow LED, whcih is connected (via resistor) between +VE pad and F0F pad on the
board... we would have use FA1 normally for firebox glow, but the model's PCB doesn't provide that as a pad. A minor tweak is
requried to the config so that F0F output operates under the Fkey we want, and has the flicker lighting effect.
