Bachmann OO Webb Coal Tank with MS Sound and Stay-Alive

Kit: MS580N18; SugarCube8; 2x Mini GoldCaps for stay-alive

Revisiting Bachmann's Next18 Webb Coal Tank model with a view to fitting Zimo MS sound and a stay-alive.

WIth an MS580N18 sound decoder, we have the option of attaching 2x Mini GoldCaps (2.7V each) in series to extend the onboard 5V Tantalum Capacitors for stay-alive. However, the GoldCaps just won't fit into the boiler under the chimney, so we do a little surgery on the Next18 PCB to lower it by a couple of mm, which is just enough.

Now sitting low enough, the pair of GoldCaps are wired up in series and attached to the MS580.

Carefully positioned and held in place with Kapton, the body slides neatly on and we're done! Performance from the GoldCaps is excellent - giving over 5 seconds of run-on time!
