Kit: MS590, IceCube18X13X06, STACO1 stay alive kit
Another quirky model, the NER Railcar is an easy fit for sound.

In the roof is a Next18 socket and a small factory speaker. This is fine, and a simple plug in MS590 or MS580 will be very
simple.

However, we found the speaker quite quiet, so upgrade this to an IceCube18x13x06, which is about as big as you can fit in the
roof without modification, and offers a big improvement.

We have used an MS590 here, as we don't need the on-board stay-alive of the larger MS580. Instead we will add an external
stay-alive, much bigger.

Here you can see the speaker has been replaced with our IceCube, carefully soldered to the pads on the PCB.

This is our stay-alive, a STACO1 kit, which comprises a small circuit board to manage the charging, and 3 mini GoldCaps. This
gives a number of seconds back-up time, so more than enough. The GoldCaps are connected in series for this kit. Any of the
STACO kits would have been very effective here.

All the kit in position, we can test, then put the body back on. Our sounds are a mix of electric sounds from the London
Underground, and an independent petrol model that operates on a separate function key.

Final touches to add passengers and driver.
