Kit: MS440C; IceCube28X18X08 speaker
Using a Zimo MS440C in this Railcar means that we do not need to make any rewiring to take advantage of all of the model's
lighting features (9 of them!). The decoder simply plugs in.
Take the 21pin blanking plate out.
Plug the MS440C in, but BEWARE - Heljan have desgined the PCB in reverse so it has to be plugged in upside down compared to
most models! Carefully check the alignment of the index pin to be sure.
This model was supplied with a 2pin plug on a wiring loom for the speaker, so we just need to join our speaker to those wires.
We just use the standard 1000uF capacitor for stay-alive, which comes with the MS440C decoder.
Insulate the contacts/metal of the speaker and the capacitor, and fix them into the model using BlackTack.
The height is a bit of a squeeze, but with the BlackTack above, and Kapton tape for insulation between speaker/decoder, all
fits nicely in.
Kit: MS440C; IceCube28X18X08; SuperCap17000uF
Exactly the same thing again, but showing that there is room for a SuperCap slung under the lighting strip too.
Kit: MS440C with IceCube28X18X08
In the Parcels version of Heljan's model, we have plenty of scope to hide the kit. A very simple approach here.
