Kit: Zimo MX649 with YouChoos SugarCube9 speaker
A reasonable little more from Heljan. Cab comes off easily revealing a suitable space on the cab floor for a SugarCube9
speaker.
Unscrew the engine cover and we find a recess where a 6pin socket PCB sits - find if you just want standard DCC, but for DCC
Sound we need more space - remove the PCB so we just have wires left and we'll hard-wire an MX649, recovered in Kapton tape for
minimal space.
The SugarCube9 is insulated underneath and stuck down on a slab of Black Tack, then painted black to disguise.
Now begins the process of joining all the wires. The lights are a little fiddly as we need to include a resistor for each end
to protect the model's LEDs.
Here is the MX649, de-clothes, and wiring commenced. We need enough wire length to work comfortably with, but not too much, or
it won't fit in the recess afterwards.
Add some fellas while we have the cab open, and tidy it all up.
Looking good by the tunnel. Some of the lights are a bit dim on this model, but it all works OK!
