Kit: MS440C; YC28R round speaker
This is an updated Hornby streamlined Coronation (2024), with provision in the tender for 21pin DCC and a round speaker. This
example is the simple approach using the kit that Hornby expected...

Unplug the 4way electrical connector so we can work on the tender separately.

The YC28R 28mm 2W round speaker fits under the metal weight in the tender chassis.

The MS440 plugs in - in this case upside down compared to convention, as Hornby have designed their socket the 'wrong' way up!
We also add in the sample 1000uF stay-alive capacitor, wrapped in Kapton. This all fits easily in for a simple installation.
Sound is not fantastic, but it is simple.

Kit: MS440C; YLR302815
A Coronation really needs a bigger and deeper sound - especially because of the low Stanier hooter-style whistles, so we find a
way to shoe-horn in a massive YLR302815 2W box speaker.
We position the 1000uF stay-alive cap in the well, secured centrally with some BlackTack, and the YLR302815 speaker will be
position just fore of the decoder, position with BlackTack too.

A lot of plastic from the coal chute will need to be removed, so we patiently cut this away, constantly trying the fit, until
it slots neatly in.

Finally, it fits, and we set about rebuilding the coal load. We use the original plastic coal load, with shortened leg
supports, and fill the gaps with BlackTack, and finally glue and sprinkle on some crushed coal.
