Hornby OO Class 08 with Zimo MS sound and massive stay-alive

Kit: MS491R; IceCube18X13X08; LifeLink + MGOBLOCK stay-alive

Another revisit to a classic - Hornby's 8pin Class 08, this time with Zimo MS sound, big speaker, and a massive stay-alive.

The IceCube speaker fits up front behind the radiator, and a simple approach would be to plug in our MS491R decoder - job done!

However, to get the big stay-alive in, and without using the cab space, we must remove the 8pin socket and hard-wire. There is a perfect space where the socket is vacated to fit a superb Zimo MGOBLOCK GoldCap array.

The MGOBLOCK is wrapped in Kapton tape, connected to a LifeLink PCB, and then on to the decoder's Common Positive and Ground connections.

It is quite a nice, and relatively simple approach, and the results are nothing short of amazing - loud with the speaker, and stay-alive goes on for ages!
