Example 1: Hard-wire MX645 approach with LS26X20X08-1W Dumbo

Kit: Zimo MX645R with Zimo Dumbo LS26X20X08-1W (or IceCube25X18X08-1W)

DCC sound installation pretty easy in this Bachmann SECR Wainwright 'C' tender - wired MX645 with small Dumbo (LS26X20X08-1W) and a decent 1000uF electrolytic capacitor for stay-alive. The model actually comes with a 21pin DCC socket, which makes it a very easy install using an MX644D and smaller speaker, but we want more volume and a decent stay-alive, so have opted to remove the socket and hard-wire the kit.

Not shown in detail here, but below is an example of a pair of pretty SECR green lined 'C's which have had a full-monty installation, with second decoder in the loco controlling smoke (with metal chimney) and lighting. Not for the faint-hearted, but shows what can be achieved!

Example 2: 21pin Plug-in Approach, bigger speaker and stay-alive

Kit: MX644D; IceCube28X18X10-2W; LifeLink+SuperCap17000uF

In this approach, we remove any metal weights from the tender, and fit more substantial equipment instead, including a really big stay-alive via our LifeLink connection kit. The decoder just plugs into the 21pin board in the model.
