Revolution Trains N gauge Tube Class 483 with DCC Sound

Kit: MX671N function decoder; MS500N sound decoder, NanoCube speaker; 1x 470uF Flat Tantalum

Very tidy model from Revolution Trains, but of course super-tight on space.

The non-motor car is simple enough - just a plug-in MX671N function-only decoder for the lighting in that coach.

Now onto the power car. The sound decoder is easy enough - just a direct plug-in MS500N 6pin, but the challenge is the speaker - there is literally nowhere for it, so we need to get creative!

No room on top, inside the carriage area.

We have some tiny NanoCube speakers, even smaller than MicroCubes, measuring just 12x6mm footprint. Of course they are not the loudest components, but needs must, as this model is so tight on space. The speaker has a thin plastic top added to give a seal. The NanoCube is available as a special request (not on the website).

We have to carefully modify the plastic battery box to make space for it - fairly easy to do, but some care not to break anything and to make it as invisible from the outside as possible.

In addition, we found that due to the very light weight of the model, it was very prone to stalling. The best we could do to improve this was a single 470uF Flat Tantalum capacitor, which needed carefully positioning in the batter box too. It helps a little with the stalling problem.
