Kit: MS480R/481R; SugarCube7; STACO1 stay-alive kit
Bachmann dip back into O gauge here with this lovely little Hudswell Clarke, ex Ixion design.

Provision for DCC and sound is good, though some care is required unpinned all the pipework on the boiler in order to get into
the space. An 8pin DCC socket is presented on top of a mostly void box, which will be very convenient for our kit.

Under the keeper plate, a space is available for a 20mm round speaker, including electrical connections up to the decoder area.
However, it isn't very deep, and our experience with small round speakers suggests that another approach will be better, so we
leave that are untouched.

A little BlackTack to hold the MS480/MS481R and SugarCube7 speaker inside the pale grey plastic shroud, with harness up to the
socket. We used our Andrew Barclay sound project.
After a short test run, we conclude that a good stay-alive will be very beneficial, so assemble a STACO1 stay-alive kit, which
is a small management PCB and 3 mini GoldCaps. There is just enough space between the grey shroud and the boiler housing to fit
this without any additional modification.

Initially we thought that the GoldCaps could go on top, 2 in front of the screw mount, and 1 behind, but it turns out that the
recess for the water filling is too wide to allow this, so we simply place the GoldCaps along one side of the shroud instead.
A little BlackTack to secure them.

Body back on and pipepink carefully reinserted, this proved a very simple fit, and performance is excellent too.
