Hornby's revised 8F has a 21pin socket in the tender, so time for a revisit to this old favourite.

This one has the 21pin socket the 'normal' way up, but always check the 'missing index pin' for the correct orientation of the
decoder!

We start by placing an MGOLANG (wrapped in Kapton tape) under the metal weight - a little BlackTack to hold it centrally. It is
a tight fit, but does just go in with the weight back in properly flush.

MGOLANG connected to the decoder, and decoder plugged in.

We want a good speaker, so opt for a dual SugarStrand 25x20x09. This needs cutting the coal slope away a little, which we will
rebuilt afterwards with some better coal.
There are not solder pads for speaker in this model, so we go direct to the feet of the 21pin plug in the model. If you are not
confident doing this, you can request us to solder wires direct to the decoder prior to shipping.

This is how it will all sit, so we just need to remove enough of the coal slope to make it fit.

All in, new coal load built, weathered up, and ready for action!
