Hornby Princess Coronation with MS Sound and big speaker
Hornby OO Princess Coronation using MS sound with big speaker and stay-alive
Kit: MS440D/C; YLR302815; MGOLANG
Hornby's 21pin version of the Princess Coronation can take some really good kit without too much work. We aim for the biggest
possible speaker and stay-alive, which means cutting a fair bit of the coal load area away, then rebuilding the coal
afterwards, but the results are well worthwhile!
The metal weight from the model has been cut, so only the rear part remains. This gives us a little more height to play with a
big speaker. The weight of the speaker is more than the weight of the metal removed, so we're not going to lose out on pickup
ability at all.
MGOLANG is wrapped in Kapton and stuck to the wrong edge of the YLR302815 speaker with a little BlackTack. It is then just a
case of positioning the speaker and cutting sufficient of the coal area to fit it in.
The big speaker really helps with those low Stanier hooters!
